Netflix help to prevent kids from watching inappropriate content

Netflix is the biggest streaming service of the world with more than 200 million subscribers across the world. It also happens to be the biggest provider of children and family specific content. According to the estimates given by the company itself, nearly 60% of the subscription base of Netflix watches this content. It is therefore not a surprise to find Netflix investing a lot of money on sourcing original content form providers like Nickelodeon. Netflix gets tough competition in this segment form other streaming services like Disney and Amazon Prime Video. Now, Netflix help is coming out with tools to allow parents to remove content from their library that they consider inappropriate for their children. Using these tools, parents can filter content to make sure their children enjoy content that is according to their age.

Realizing the difficulties faced by parents in keeping a close watch on the content watched by their kids, Netflix has expanded the reach of parental controls. With the help of these tools, parents can decide what content their kids must stay away from. In fact, they can remove titles and TV shows that they think are not appropriate for their kids based upon their content. If you are a subscriber, you can now remove individual titles and TV shows by their name. For example, if you believe Miles Ahead Netflix is a documentary inappropriate for your small kids, you can now remove it from your library. Kids will simply not see it in the profile account created by you so that they will not go for the documentary. With this feature, you can now keep entire content suitable for G-rating if that is your desire.

Another feature of Netflix that parents can use to stop their kids from watching inappropriate content is to use a PIN that will protect their profile. They can also review the viewing history of their kids to have a clear understanding of the kind of content their kids have been watching on this streaming service. Finally, Netflix allows parents to disable the feature of auto play for TV shows and movies that they believe are inappropriate for their young children.

Michelle Parsons, who is working as kids’ product manager in Netflix, has written a blog post on this topic. In the blog, he says that parental controls and choice have been very important for the company. He expressed hope that with the introduction of these powerful features, parents will enjoy a better control over the content that they want their kids to watch on Netflix.

All the new features for parental control have been made available to the users. Whether you are watching Netflix on desktop or a smartphone, you can go into setting to find these features and use them to decide which content should be removed from your profile.

The thing to remember with this new feature is that it is profile specific and the title remains available for watching if any other member of the household has made a profile for himself.
