How might you become well known on Facebook through Facebook Support?
Facebook is not just another social media platform. It is so popular with people spending so much time over it that it has become an integral part of their lives. With hundreds of millions users active around the world at any given moment of time, it is imperative for Facebook to look for ways to be accessible to its members in places where internet is not easily available. In its bid to extend Facebook support to its loyal members in these places, the company has filed a patent for a drone that can stay afloat for a long time in the skies with the help of two kites tethered together.
Not many people have taken
this move by Facebook seriously. But this concept of a drone stationary in air
with the support of two kites is a novel one and has implications for Facebook
plans to provide connectivity to people in places devoid of internet. The
concept drone is aptly referred to as dual kite aerial vehicle. You can imagine
it as a device that will have the ability to stay in the air with the help of
two kites flying at different altitudes and tethered together. The basic
premise behind this patent is to allow the drone making connectivity possible
to stay afloat at a desired height with minimum use of fuel.
Facebook online support is not restricted to its portal and the accounts
of its millions of customer. It goes beyond what you can see around you. Given
the backdrop of a similar project called Aquila undertaken by Facebook earlier,
it shows how keen is Facebook to develop low cost drones to take connectivity
to places and regions across the globe.
Aquila was a project
undertaken by Facebook to solve the problem of low or no connectivity in
different parts of the world with the help of solar powered drones. But
insiders say that Facebook has little interest in this project now given the
high cost of solar powered drones. It is in this context that this new patent
filed by Facebook is being seen by the experts around the world. The reason why
Facebook has given its green signal to this project is because of the fact that
kites are lightweight and also highly cost effective. In a way this concept of
a dual kite powered aerial vehicle addresses all concerns of the company in
minimum cost. As drones would eat very little power, Facebook is continuing
with its earlier plan of solar powered drones.
However, many questions still
remain answered with the safety of kites being most important. How will kites
keep flying in the face of rough weather conditions like a storm, rain, strong
winds, or even when attacked by flying birds?
There are also unconfirmed
reports that Facebook has joined hands
with Airbus to test flight of such solar
powered drones in many places in Australia. But it is still not clear whether
Facebook is solely interested in drone technology or these drones are a part of
a large goal that the company has set for itself. Filing for a patent does nto
mean Facebook is going to make these drones.
