McAfee update issues on Windows

McAfee antivirus is being used by hundreds of thousands of individuals and businesses around the country. It is considered a premium product ensuring safety and security of computer systems. However, not even one of these staunch supporters of McAfee antivirus ever imagined that it would itself become a hurdle in their attempt to login to their computer systems. After MacAfee support announced an important update to its security suites recently, thousands of users found that they have been locked out of their systems, mostly Windows based computers.

All these users were naturally stunned and they could not guess what was stopping them from logging in to their Windows accounts. It was only much later that the culprit was identified as the update issued by McAfee antivirus. This update was for a product called Endpoint security 10.2 and meant for is exploit prevention module. Perhaps this update was not properly implemented with the result that it started to prevent users who downloaded and installed in their systems from logging in to their Windows accounts. It was natural for all these users to feel aggrieved and some even believed their security had been compromised because of the use of McAfee internet security suite.
All this while, there were also users who believed something had gone wrong with Windows. These perceptions were ill found but had the potential to damage the reputation of the company. It is not yet confirmed how many customers were impacted by this problem but it is now clear that the log in problem was not caused by any Windows update. As a part of its security measures, Microsoft rolled out security updates to many of its versions namely Windows 7, Windows 8, and also Windows 10. But the company found that none of its updates were responsible for locking users out of their Windows accounts.
It didn’t take long for online McAfee support to notice the problems being faced by its users around the country on such a large scale. The botched update did not cause problems for common individuals only as even big businesses like Experian, the leading credit rating agency of the country, experienced shut down for a long time period because of this security update released by McAfee.
In a technical advisory, McAfee accepted that the log in problem was indeed being caused by an update to its Endpoint Security suite. Users who had installed this update (version 9418) were experiencing trouble logging in to their Windows accounts.
To solve the misery of its thousands of users, McAfee support rolled out version 9419 to this update that has been successful in fixing the issue of log in. All affected customers have been advised by the company to install the patch by booting in the Safe Mode.
The most interesting thing to note here is that MacAfee support has been discontinued to Endpoint Security 10.2, the antivirus tool that created the problem for so many users around the country. It is a product that is so popular that people continue to use it even after it has been discarded by McAfee.
