Remember this phone number for all your problems with Netflix subscription

Netflix has steadfastly refused ads on its platform. It has more than 150 million subscribers on its platform, credited with having started the trend of cutting the cord. Customers enjoy movies and TV shows of their choice on their devices without being interrupted by commercials. This is really wonderful as they only have to pay a low monthly fee to the streaming giant.  On its part, Netflix support has been nothing short of phenomenal, never letting its customer down on any count.

There have been murmurs and rumors of Netflix resorting to ads to increase its revenue earning potential. But company bosses have always denied these rumors, knowing well that this platform will not enjoy loyalty form subscribers if they were made to see long commercials during movies and shows. However, Netflix is seeing how Roku and Hulu, its competitors, have gained in popularity despite showing ads to their subscribers. Has the time really come for Netflix to have a serious rethink on the issue of advertising?

Times are changing and so are the audiences
During the conference of the advertisers in April this year, the issue of Netflix was discussed. Many executives were of the view that Netflix cannot continue with a total ban on advertising for long as its competitors will give better pricing for similar products to their customers. They felt that Netflix will experience a slowdown in a not so distant future and it is only advertising that will help the streaming giant to sustain its costly operations Looking at the amount of money Netflix is pumping in producing  original content, it will be forced to think of advertising very soon.

Price hike is justified only up to a point
Netflix has already resorted to a price hike of 12-18% this year. A survey done on the customer using Netflix revealed that nearly 27% of them were considering cancelling their subscription. Out of these, nearly 10% said they were serious about cancelling their subscriptions. This fact reveals the limit of Netflix to increase its prices for streaming services. Netflix has also tried a lower subscription in some countries by offering content on mobile devices in a bid to gauge the mood of the consumers.

What is more worrying for Netflix is the news that its competitor Hulu is attracting customers at a very rapid pace? This streaming service added nearly 8 million customers to its platform last year and today it has 28 million subscribers. It is able to offer much cheaper subscription charges starting from $5.99 per month because of its ad supported service. The same is the case with Roku that has added 7.8 million subscribers to reach a figure of 27 million. Popularity of these two streaming services shows that there are customers who are OK with ads and commercials during their programs and movies.

However, even competitors envy the solid Netflix support to its customers. What Netflix can do is to introduce an ad supported tier in between its ad free pricing model. There may be millions of customers who might be willing to pay a lower price with ads if they can enjoy Netflix.
