When does support for Windows 7

Windows is the most popular operating system used by people in their desktops and laptops around the world. Windows 7 remains the most loved OS for millions of men and women even though Microsoft ended its official support to this OS way back in 2015. The company launched Windows 10 soon after and it has also been accepted by the users. Extended Microsoft support to Windows 7 will officially end by 2020.

Switch over to Windows 10 or be left out
If you are still continuing with the older Windows 7 OS, you will face problems once this extended support is also withdrawn. You may have to pay to Microsoft to receive continued support in future. This is certainly not a very pleasing option for people running Windows 7 in their computers. This is why they need to upgrade to Windows 10 for not just a better user experience but also to avoid paying money to remain protected from viruses and malware on the web.

Realizing the problems of businesses stilly continuing with Widows 7 OS, Microsoft has decided to extend support to them through paid plans. Online Windows support is very important for businesses and this is the reason why the company has agreed to continue providing its support to Windows 7 for these entities.

Windows 7 Extended Security Updates paid plan- This is a paid plan under which users of Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Professional will continue to receive security updates from the company till 2023.
Windows 7 Extended Security Updates free plan- This is a free plan for all those who are buying virtual Windows 7 now. They will receive free security updates till 2023.

Adoption rate for Windows 10 has increased
One reason why Microsoft has decided to end its support for Windows 7 is to encourage more and more people to switch to its latest operating system Windows 10. There is no doubt numbers of people transitioning to Windows 10 has increased but the company also needs to realize the problems faced by people still using older hardware. This old hardware is not compatible with the new Windows 10. Also, people still love Windows 7 reflected by the fact that Windows 10 has only recently overtaken Windows 7 in terms of people using these two operating systems.

Even hardware support is drying up
People are finding that chipsets and processors manufactured by top companies like Intel and AMD are no longer supporting the older Windows 7 operating system. This clearly means that the lifecycle of this OS has clearly ended. It is not being supported even by those making hardware. One needs to understand that the time to upgrade to Windows 10 has arrived and they can no longer continue with Windows 7 even if they receive support from Microsoft.

Most people have almost forgotten Windows 8 by now as it was never very popular among the masses. Though Windows tech support is available for free for its users, it shall come to an end by January 2023.
